Welcome to ThingsLinker
ThingsLinker is an IoT platform for devices built on the ESP32. A company builds and supplies the devices, the people who use them monitor and control them from the web or their phone, and ThingsLinker connects the two.
Who these guides are for
| You are… | You use… | Start here |
|---|---|---|
| A user: you have a ThingsLinker device at home, at work or in the field and want to see its readings and control it | The User Portal at app.thingslinker.com and the ThingsLinker app for Android (Google Play) | Create your account |
| An organization: your company designs, sells or installs devices and manages them for your customers | The Organization Portal at org.thingslinker.com | Get started as an organization |
| A device developer: you write the firmware that runs on the devices | The ThingsLinker Arduino library for ESP32 | Device developer overview |
Organizations and device developers often work together, or are the same people: the organization sets up products in the portal, and the developer writes the firmware that sends readings to them.
How it fits together
- An organization creates a blueprint, a template for one kind of product, for example "Room Sensor, ESP32, WiFi".
- Under the blueprint it creates devices, one for each unit it makes, and sets up the widgets each device shows: gauges, charts, switches and so on.
- A device developer puts the device's credentials into the firmware. The device then sends its readings to ThingsLinker and listens for commands.
- A user adds the device to their account by scanning or typing the code on its label, and connects it to their WiFi.
- The user opens the device's dashboard to watch live readings, look at history, control outputs and get alerts on their phone.
The Concepts page explains each of these terms.
Need help?
- Users can raise a support ticket with the organization that supplied their device: see Support and feedback.
